Such a hilarious couple Kevin and Lai Peng are, Max and I laughed until our stomaches hurt when we were chatting with them. And as expected, their wedding was full of life. From Kevin and entourage having to inflict Yoga poses on their stiff bones, or the couple having their own paparazzi, to the affection in their eyes during their vows. With the bubblies generously flowing, I believe couple and guests alike had a splendid time. Big smiles and joyful tears, it was a good ending indeed to a wedding celebration.

Kah Oon and Joline both had jobs based in Dubai and that was how they met. With interests for pre-wedding photography in both Singapore and Dubai, we did Singapore first. Kah Oon feels Dubai’s current weather of 40°C is not conducive for outdoor photography, all of us certainly agree with him. Their albums, 3 in total, have not been designed yet, but here’s an image of Joline I’d like to post first:

It reminds me of an all time favorite image (voted by couples) shot by Chris in Venice:

Same same but different, don’t you think?

If you find Javier & Joyce familiar it is because I had previously posted up Chris’ photography of their pre-wedding, under See Kian & Joyce. One of the nicest couples we have met, they treated us like family instead of staff. Kelvin Lee and Max sends both of you their best regards as well, you two certainly charmed them!

Another interesting booking for Max was made by Candice’s sister, Dionne. She arranged everything for Candice as Candice was overseas. The following images were tweaked with a higher saturation and contrast. Not all photos can be done as such but it does fit Matthew and Candice’s. I think I’ll use the same direction for their album.

Here are some of Skyy’s photography of Eden and Vicky, they had their shoot in Hong Kong even though they’re from Shanghai. The artwork for their album is also done by Skyy, in accordance to the bold and beautiful theme she had in mind.

The CL Studio team from both Singapore and Hong Kong would like to thank all our Hong Kong clients who visited and signed with us during our fair. We’re extremely excited with the response from our Hong Kong base ever since we’ve introduced our photography approach to the market. We’ll also be promoting more of our senior photographers under Chris Ling International in Hong Kong, bringing along our strong reputation that we have developed here. Do keep a lookout for future concepts.

From the images Eugene composed and their guidelines on the type of colours they prefer, I knew Dean and Charmaine could accept a more experimental treatment for their album. This I related to Skyy, chatting with her about how quirky Dean and Charmaine are and the directions they like. She then told me she’ll take up the artwork for their album. I told her I didn’t charge them any additional for the conceptualization (which means Skyy doesn’t get any money out of it), but she says it doesn’t matter as it’s going to be fun for her.

For some it might not be their cup of tea, but I’m glad Dean and Charmaine gave good feedback on the finished product, mentioning that it’s in sync with what they had in mind. The unplanned collaboration turned out well indeed.

And I would like to end with this cheeky image of Dean and Charmaine, it sums them up very well!

We’ve been receiving many inquiries on whether we will be participating in the Great Singapore Sale, half of which never fail to remind me that due to the financial downturn, we should. Further adding that promotions would encourage expenditure and therefore it would contribute to improving our economic structure.

It’s rather fascinating to hear people out there are speaking along the same lines, therefore we can’t help but not take part in this Great Sale.

I received a call from Allyson, the editor of Female Brides, months back. She wanted to do an article on overseas photography by Chris, and she also needed help on which other photographers are popular in the market. I mentioned the other big 3 that Chris started out with in the 90s. But she wanted more towards 2000s, so I gave her another reputable 4. I had some amusing reactions when I told my colleagues how I willingly shared information, but I will insist on giving recognition where it is due. This industry being small as it is, our individual strengths will flourish prominently and our clients understand that. The last thing we need is to undermine everyone else, that’s just immature.

Female Brides Spring 2009 issue is already out in the news stands (months back in fact but it had totally slipped my mind until I was going through my old emails). They also have an online version.

Chris first took their pre-wedding photography, now it’s Max’s turn to cover their wedding day. I’m not sure why Max gets a majority of church weddings, but this time round he’s glad to cover a military one. There are many details he enjoys covering, from the uniforms to the procession. Well, I’m glad he had fun. Judging from all the rest of the photos, I believe the beautiful couple really enjoyed themselves too.
