Chris Ling’s Unique Storyboard Process

Story boards are common when producing short videos, feature films, or commercials. It’s an essential step in the big production world in which budgets can range from 5 figures to millions of dollars. These all important storyboards help to:

  • Define the shots needed in the production

  • Stay within the budget

  • Make efficient use of limited time

  • Create the layout and introduce the story

  • Give everyone the overall picture and end goals

So why not bring it into the pre-wedding photography world since this is exactly what we want to do here at Chris Ling? Everyone has so far agreed that the pre-wedding images are important. We’d like to stress that no matter how many photos go into your final print wedding album, they always need to tell your story.

Storyboarding Process: It starts right before the pre-wedding shoot!

Why?

wedding photographer, shoot discussion with couple, in Z Wedding

Every wedding couple is different, likewise every story is different. How often do you hear of couples only discussing locations and piecing the pieces with whatever has been taken? The result, a copy and pasted wedding album that even an app with pre-conceived templates can churn out.

Therefore, during pre-wedding shoot discussions, our photographers will introduce the storyboarding process. It gives visibility to what you want to achieve so that the end result will be efficient, effective, and elevated. Not to mention, much for fun because we want to take the stress and doubt out of the shoot.

How?

Think of your story, your interests, or even your emotions. This is your love story and not a graded examination. If you have a plan, brilliant! We can iron out the details together and piece together photography frames that will successfully execute your story. If you don’t, we will help you frame up what the pre-wedding images may be and create the skeleton of your story first. Either way, you will work together with us to create the vision for your pre-wedding album.

When?

Starting the creation process right at the beginning will help us plan all the angles, details, focus, and backdrops or landscapes. Being prepared keeps everything on track during the shoot day, and all of couples being more relaxed would make the pre-wedding photos more natural! More importantly, the storyboarding process will leave room for contingency plans because we can never discount the unexpected!

Have the pre-wedding photo album you want.

Don’t piece an album together from scrap material just because those were the options you were given.
